This was something I was once thinking: Is it really "hardcore" to make parodies of Steamboat WIlly right after becoming public domain when it still adheres to copyright law?
People have been doing edgy parodies of copyrighted stuff for years.

It's fun and valid to characterize Disney as being "sellouts" and "only in it for the money" whenever they withhold, scrap, or otherwise compromise some work of art, but this wave of Steamboat Willie "artists" who waited until the copyright expired aren't fooling anyone either.

Alright, alright, the ones who are doing it because it's now a meme to make fun of Steamboat Willie, rather than a perceived business opportunity, they get a pass.
