Random dream related blog posts

Something interesting about dreams is how videogames can influence them.

I think it has something to do with lucid dreams even and the control you can have over a dream.

But I also remember what I said about dreams based on real places, but the locations are very different, even if you feel like you're in a familiar place within the dream (Will elaborate on that later).

I think sometimes, the layout of the dream location is inspired by a videogame level.

As if the place is the actual level of a game but with the "skin" (Wall textures, decoration, sky, visuals etc) of a place that could exist in real life.

And even in those dreams, I had moments where I'm like "let me take pictues of this place, so I can use it a reference for a game" which is like my consciousness being aware that I'd want to have these locations in a game.

Even though it's just a dream so nothing is saved on my phone.

But I guess that's another reason to use your own dreams as reference or even to play games.

Specially replaying games (Or stuff like Doom wads) because of how they affected your dreams and how you believe that replaying a game could bring back a memory or a dream; Because I heard that sometimes, we can associate certain thoughts with certain places, so if we revisit some places in real life, we could get back to some thoughts we had in those places.

As if we're treating real places like external drives to our brain's computer.

Another thing about videogame related dreams is when there's locations that feel like they're from games, like the games you like having extra levels or places within their universes.

Even though, if you boot up like Super Mario Sunshine for example: That location you dreamed off is not an actual level in the game.

But again, more reason to make games and/or levels for them.

The thing about dreams based on real places:

Something weird in dreams is when a location reminds you of one from real life, even when it looks completely different.

Like you think of a place you’ve been before and the dream takes place in one that looks nothing like it: Yet you associate the dream with that place.

It could be because of the context of the dream, where you think a dream place is your house even when you wake up and realize the place looked nothing like your house.

But even if nobody in the dream says “it’s your house”, you somehow feel it is, at least in that context.

In a way, it’s as if dreams treat these real places like a videogame where you replay a level and see these new areas or the level design changed entirely.

Even if there’s places I haven’t visited in years like houses of relatives, I still associate them with new places from dreams.

As if your brain used those places as references even if only a very small fraction to the point you otherwise wouldn’t notice.

I kinda hope I get to recreate some of my dreams in projects.

But I think the other weirdest dreams I’ve had are the ones that involve violence or gore but the anatomy is alien.

Like one where there’s a hole on my right arm and I peek what’s inside: It’s red and hollow but there’s like the spine of a fish or something and because it’s follow, a bit of light comes through the skin.

Another is one where I had a hole in my forehead: Then I see these layers of rock, flesh, cheese, tiny rocks etc like a sandwish with different materials and it’s supposed to be my brain.
