Don't really like George Carlin that much but the idea that he'd be considered "woke" today is goofy.
One obvious reason is when he shits on political correctness.
But another is because of the whole schtick of "most people are fucking stupid" which doesn't work with a culture of fake positivity and people prending to be nice.
Think of Tumblr artists when they fetishize vitiligo and stretch marks and go "you're so beautiful" which is something corporations and brands even caught on as part of marketing.
Doesn't work with a mindset that thinks about masses culture or shit like that, outside of maybe when some Americans go "most Americans are dumb but at least the rightoids ones. Good thing us lefties are the good ones" when an outsider would think "fuck you, you're both bad".
There's also the fact that concepts like sincerity and sympathy are best done naturally and through action but the internet is this virtual space where what you get out of most people is just written words.
So some people put more effort into shouting "I'M A GOOD PERSON, I'M A GOOD PERSON" than actually proving it.
It's the same reason why everyone is overly self conscious and why plenty of movies/shows/games/etc have "self aware/meta writing".
For the same reason people join online mobs to attack others for moral superiority when deep down, they too have skeletons in their closers.
Guess there's also how the problem with humanity isn't that we're all the same, if anything we're too different from each other.
That's why, if culture wars mean anything, people love having a black-or-white view: It's easier if everyone is either X or Y.
If you lean left/right to the extreme but someone on your side is "not lefty/righty enough", you'd hate them more than the other side because they confuse you like an eldritch being.
Going back to Carlin, there's also the fact that the left didn't really embrace political correctness (At least as much as now) until like the 2010's.
It's what makes the existence of "dark woke" silly because it's them going "yeah turns out we don't mind edgy jokes and slurs, we just wanted to police people lol".
Stephen Colbert made a gay joke about Trump and Putin and his audience hated it.
Trevor Moore will still be the most popular WKUK guy because he remained a 2000's Leftist while the rest of the group got a Windows 10 update to "grow up".
"Wow I can't believe they said slurs on CumTown OMG" you're the reason why zoomoids say "ahh" instead of "ass".
Remember when someone on Tumblr wanted a picture of fruit to be tagged as "gore"?
Anyway, Carlin did say some interesting things but he also felt like he said basic shit and got popular for how he presented/delivered them.
I could say in a way, the attitude of "you know what mother fucker?" *drops some FACTS* predates Youtubers and grifters going "you've been owned with FACTS AND LOGIC" and those Tumblr threads that go "ALRIGHT MOTHER FUCKERS HERE'S A HISTORY LESSON".
This cartoonish idea of "being smart" that's prevelant in a lot of shit, specially with adult Millenials.
With that in mind, it's one way that George Carlin, despite his intentions, actually made people stupider.
Anyway.
FUCK YOU!
