Nortubel music influences explained

Posted by EyeBallTank - January 19th, 2025

Note: This means "intentional ones" as opposed to "accidental" ones like if you find a song that sounds too much like the boss song I made for Amalia, it might be a coincidence.

Also don't be surprised about the plagiarism but honestly, I think that's natural with videogames and if I ever get better music production, I hope the music sounds even closer.

LEVELS:

  • Nortubel song 1: Used Gorillaz' On Melancholy Hill as a reference and one bit was taken from David Bowie's A New Career In A New Town
  • Song 2: Gorillaz' Last Living Souls
  • Song 3: Sounds like Gorillaz' Kids with Guns but Manu Chao's Me Gustas Tu was the main reference
  • Song 4: Gorillaz' Tranz
  • Song 5: Mix of David Bowie's Miracle Goodnight and 5:15 The Angels Have Gone
  • Song 6: Ripped off cutscene song from a licensed W.I.T.C.H. Gameboy Advance game
  • Song 7: Bowie's Girls Love Me
  • Shihiro/race songs: Bowie's Atomica
  • Hirdrih level 1: A 2011 remix of Daft Punk's Aerodynamic by quantumbeatsmusic I think?
  • Hirdrih 2: Daft Punk's Veridis Quo
  • Hirdrih 3: Daft Punk's Something About Us
  • Krimb-Stone song 2: Literally the credits theme from the Sin City movie
  • Krimb-Sotne 3: Nine Inch Nails' Starfuckers Inc
  • Massag-Coav song 1: David Bowie's Strangers When We Meet
  • Massag-Coav 2: Bowie's Boss Of Me
  • Massag-Coav 3: Bowie's I'm Afraid Of Americans
  • Massag-Coav 4: Bowie's Where Are We Now
  • Massag-Coav 5: Bowie's Fly and his cover on Picasso
  • Greklovick song 1: Nine Inch Nails' Where is Everybody and Was it Worth it? (From Fragile Deviations)
  • Greklovick 2: NIN's All the Love in the World and Ghosts I track 9
  • Greklovick 3: NIN's And All That Could Have Been
  • Greklovick 4: NIN's The Wretched
  • Greklovick 5: NIN's The Becoming and Please
  • Brinkaedea song 1: YURiKA's Dream Flight and Daito Music's Big Fool Boys
  • Brinkaedea 2: Maybe a bit of Bowie's Seven from the Hours album
  • Brinkaedea 3: Wanted to take from Odango Capriccio by Stack/Akatsuki Records, Daito Music's Shout Out!! and even took a little bit from Benny Hill Yakety Sax
  • Brinkaedea song 4 when things go wrong: The Residents' Constantinople
  • Lahiurn song 1: Literally Apocalyptica's Path
  • Lahiurn songs 2: Kinda inspired by the "stealth/caught" songs you'd hear in Return to Castle Wolfenstein
  • Lahiurn song 3: A mix of Nine Inch Nails' Pilgrimage and Oceania 'Tis for Thee from the 1984 movie
  • Herrko song 1: Susumu Hirasawa's Moon Time
  • Herrko 2: Literally "When there's a whip" song from that Rankin Bass LOTR movie
  • Herrko 3: Another Rankin Bass LOTR song
  • Herrko 4: Susumu Hirasawa's Gardener KING
  • Untotern song 2: Type O Negative's In Praise of Bacchus and Can't Lose You
  • Untotern 3: Type O Negative's Life Is Killing Me

CUTSCENES:

  • A sad song in Krimb-Stone kinda took from Nine Inch Nails' Downward Spiral and maybe La Mer
  • The song after you leave Massag-Coav was originally meant to sound like Bowie's I Am With Name/Ramona A Stone
  • Before you fight Zharkovil, you have a rip off of NIN's Pinion
  • And after you beat Zhark, you hear a rip off from NIN's We're In This Together
  • The song after you rescue the other undead tris to mix up various Type O Negative's songs, including Green Man and Love You To Death
  • A certain sad song in Nortubel related cutscenes sort of took from Bowie's Dollar Days and even Lazarus
  • In the credits song, certain sequences were meant to sound like (Or took from) these songs:
  • Hirdrih: The Daft Punk remix I mentioned
  • Krimb-Stone: Something based off Prodigy like Breathe, at least originally
  • Massag-Coav: Bowie's The Stars Are Out Tonight
  • Greklovick: NIN's You Know What You Are
  • Brinkaedea: Still a bit of that Benny Hill song and originally, Akatsuki Records/Stack's Monster Clown
  • Lahiurn: Apocalyptica's Hope
  • Herrko: Susumu Hirasawa's Stillborn City
  • Untotern: Life Is Killing Me

Sure hope I did explain all of them.
